News agencies this week are citing a new study that says teens and younger children no longer read books as we know them and that he medium is dying. The book will never die. It is simply too fantastic a form to go away. The kindle is lovely, I like my iPhone. But a book, even one that's not very good, is a wonderful and delicious work of art. Most people don't even appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship that go into the binding. Not the chop and glue that so many softcover books get while being produced in China. No, the true book... signatures, stitching, binders tape and hard covers. These books are art. Take one apart one day and awe at the structure that someone took the time to create.
