Lunch @ Beale St Cafe. Tosha is our waitress. She seems like a nice lady. She is friendly but not gregarious. Efficient but not curt. She is probably very direct with their children w/o being mean.
The toast is... perfection. So crisp. Butter? We order fried catfish. The last time we were here it was flavor perfection. Now... just friend catfish.
We chat relaxedly. John has replaced the bottle of Ameretto that I mostly killed. The girls did their fair share of damage. But gallant knife that I am, I did my best to protect them from getting too 'tight'.
Beale St historic music scene. More theme-park than history place, but dangerous enough to feel authentic. The music is real enough though. We have 3 beers and Angie's fun-trigger is pulled. A 1pm lunch turns into 9 hours of laughter, dancing, touring and joy. I love how, if one can stay still, a place becomes real in a way that glancing blows cannot deliver. I call it existing at the speed of humanity, where you see we are all brothers & laughter & tears are a universal language.
If the phone ain't ringin' it's me not calling'.
