Warning: Image Contains Corny Poetry!

This week's Illustration Friday entry was a painting I did last year during a workshop in Jim Thorpe, PA with Marshall Arisman. We spent the week researching the town and it's history which is heavily involved with coal mining. This came from a stray thought, 'If I was a canary, I'd wear a gas mask'!
It is watercolor and guache on bristol-ish paper (Moleskine sketchbook actually). I added the poem to flex my writing skills, which have been a little unused of late (obviously!).
For the spectrum of Jim Thorpe work, check out my sketchbook, Fishing in My Stream.
Or, the short story/poem that I published, The Fury of Mauch Chunk.
