If anyone was ever separated, it's Emily Richmond. She's been sailing around the world for the last few years. The funny thing is, when you read her stories she seems more connected to the world around us than I do and I live in a city of about 7 million!! It's a sizeable journey to say the least. About 25,000 miles as the bird flies... a bit more as the boat floats. She's doing it primarily under wind power (sometimes by choice, sometimes by force). She's making great time and having, literally, the adventure of a lifetime. I like to think I could pull this off, but somehow, I have my doubts (excuse garcon, another latte please!). I highly recommend investigating the journey. She's an amazing and robust young woman who's showing what determination and resourcefulness can accomplish. Naturally, the web makes journeys like this far more social than they used to be and I'm doing what I can to imagine myself in her place. For that alone I thank her! If you have a minute and are so inclined, take a little time and a few dollars and help Emily with her resourcefulness, or spread the word so someone else can watch and smile. She's down to the wire on a Kickstarter project to fund some repairs to her trusty steed (can you call a watercraft a steed?).
